The Salone del Mobile swings into action again this week with designers, architects, makers, buyers and commentators descending on Milan from all corners of the globe for what is regarded the world’s best furniture fair.
We are keeping a close watch on the show as this year it includes the biennial exhibition for bathrooms, the Salone del Bagno. We visited the fair two years ago to see the bathroom exhibitors and it was fantastic! Later this year, in September, we will be at 100{751e4452eb2cf84c4144c86bcd86c0ccd7dbeb2135ab5d102fe41ace3f047255} Design in London which also showcases bathrooms and is the largest trade event of its kind in the UK.
Bathroom furniture manufacturer Falper, based in Italy outside Bologna, is one of the top creative companies we like to follow and which inspires some of our own designs. A particularly striking piece Falper is showing at Milan this year is their Wing basin.
Other companies exhibiting at the Salone and which always get our attention are:
Budri for innovations using marble.
Flaminia for a wide range of bathroom furniture and fittings.
Glass Design for pushing glass to its limits.
Idea Group for the modern elegance of its ranges.
The Salone made its first appearance in 1961 and was designed to promote Italian furniture and furnishing accessories. Half of all its visitors come from around the world. Around 2,500 exhibitors showcase thousands of products all vetted for quality and innovation that have earned Milan its place as the capital of furnishing.
