We were thrilled to be asked by previous clients to renovate their new bathroom, 15 years after completing a renovation for them. Now living in a beautiful area at the top of Hout Bay, they wanted a fresh space that would connect with their surroundings.
The existing main en suite bathroom had a major plumbing problem – the shower wouldn’t drain, and the waste outlet could not be found anywhere on the property. We managed to solve the issue, and our clients are over the moon with their new bathroom, which now features a generous walk-in shower. With large glass windows leaving no available walls to mount the shower rose, we installed it above the panelled woodwork, carefully concealing the pipework for a clean and seamless finish.
To create privacy while keeping the natural light, we worked with our client to design a custom vinyl mountain landscape, applied to the windows to blend into the view outside. A key detail throughout was maintaining a consistent windowsill line, helping to create a simple, flowing feel.
For House Jenks bathroom, natural materials were used throughout to bring texture and warmth to the space. Eezi Quartz Misty Pearl Leatherstone was chosen for the windowsills, vanity top and floating shelves. A feature wall of textured Marazzi tiles sits behind the shower rose and wall-hung WC by Duravit, with a concealed cistern from Geberit neatly housed within the wall.
The custom floating vanity, made from real oak veneer, features a hidden finger grip to keep the lines simple. Above it, round, backlit LED mirrors were sized to fit neatly between the angled wall and high-level window, providing both practical lighting and a warm, ambient glow.
We added a few plants to bring a fresh, natural element into the room and connect the indoors to the surrounding landscape. The finished space feels calm, welcoming and very much at home in its mountain setting.
