This Pinelands home, overlooking the golf course, had two bathrooms that needed to be rebuilt after fire damage. We knew the house well, having renovated it back in 2017, so it was a pleasure to be asked back to take on the latest work.

With its compact size and timber floor, the main en suite loft bathroom called for some careful planning. For the kids’ bathroom, we retained the original layout and sourced the same floor tiles we had used during the earlier renovation.

To create a cohesive design, we needed to find floor tiles that worked with the existing Oregon flooring in the bedroom and passage while also complementing the white-blue wall tiles, which have a subtle variation in colour. We chose the Berkeley tile – a design inspired by the prestige of London’s Berkeley Square, blending traditional Victorian style with contemporary charcoal and slate-blue tones.

This balance of old and new continues in the main en suite bathroom, where a custom double-basin vanity unit pairs with taps from Meir and underslung basins from Duravit. The walls tiles are from the same family of tiles in the kids’ bathroom but in a beautiful forest green.

The House Du Plooy kids’ bathroom features a simple, large engineered stone vanity top that offers plenty of storage, along with a large mirror with integrated LED lighting on the side. The stone is gold Calacatta, while the main bathroom vanity is finished in classic grey Calacatta.
