Studio Apartment Freidman is our second renovation with a repeat client. The Friedman’s had quite a well-sized basement area which they were not using, so we were asked to design a small separate studio apartment.
We needed to make the space feel very welcoming and comfortable so that guests and tenants immediately feel at home. As it’s on Ocean View Drive there is plenty of sun as well as a small front porch.
The kitchenette, built-in wardrobes and bathroom, as well as the lighting placement were carefully designed to make the most of this small space.
We focused on special wall lighting and seamless flooring, and added a touch of warmth with geometric floor tiles in the shower which we repeated in the shower niche and kitchen splashback.
The bathroom taps are from Grohe, and the porcelain DCode basin from Duravit offers a simple solution with plenty of space to place soap and tooth brushes.
The extra large custom integrated LED mirror light, makes the bathroom feel larger and reflects a view of the outside courtyard.
The fully enclosed glass bathroom has vinyl finishings in areas to create privacy but to still let in as much light as possible so that one does not feel enclosed when using the shower.
