Francois Lotter of Onespace Architects worked in very close collaboration with the client, who both developed and designed many of the details and spaces. Their personal passion and creativity are clearly reflected in this new build.

For House Glencoe Road, we were asked to design the bathrooms as well as procure and specify the products. The result is a unique home in a very beautiful location high up in Higgovale. The unforgettable views, interesting angles and eclectic mix of new and found objects create a warmth that contrasts with the off-shutter concrete of the building.

The master bathroom flows seamlessly from the grand bedroom and dressing room, opening up to the stunning mountainside. To soften the linear space, curves were added by incorporating products like the minimalistic Omina range from Boutique Baths, with shaped semi-inset basins and bath. We also added a curve where the oak flooring transitions to tiles, which is offset by stone ledging edging off the bath storage recess.

Great care and thought went into the finishes and colours, ensuring the natural beauty of the fynbos on the mountain was reflected in the colour palette. The shower wall is clad in a large ceramic slab, Irish Green by Level. The stone tops, in a matte finish, are from Caesarstone and blend with the rocks found on Table Mountain. The backlit steel-framed mirror is carefully positioned to reflect the phenomenal beauty of Cape Town.
