The bathroom in this lovely family home on Ocean View Drive in Seapoint, Cape Town had gone through a number of renovations by previous owners and had lost all its charm as well as natural light.
We opened up the entrance from the bedroom to the bathroom and added a glass window corner to allow the north light in. The ceiling was also raised and the floor levels equalised. A new lowered bedroom wall allowed for privacy and the bed was brought forward so that views could be enjoyed from an existing sliding door.
A new dressing room was included in the open plan bedroom as well as a small home study and dressing table, housed in the intermediate space between bed and bathroom.
The Avantage bath from Boutique Baths is the focal area of the bathroom together with an indoor Zen garden created by the pot plants in custom made hand-glazed ceramics from Solstice.
The feeling of this new private living bedroom and bathroom space is both light and relaxing and truly reflects the Duravit concept of “living bathrooms” which talks about bathrooms that can be as relaxing as a mini break
