The brief for this beautiful large house in Durbanville was to revamp its two bathrooms and guest cloakroom in a Victorian style. To achieve this we introduced new architectural features. All windows were replaced with white aluminum and security shutters as well as architraves and deep sills. New tall skirting and cornices added another layer to the elegance.
The focus of the main bathroom is a unique free-standing pewter bath with a St James bath spout and oval double bevel custom mirror. The Volakas marble tiles and shower slab are sealed simultaneously using a specialist acrylic finish which creates a continuous surface. The glass cladding in the showers also ensures that no unsightly grout was used at all. The same soft grey colour was used on the satin glass clad vanity with crystal handles. Semi-inset basins by La Dolce Vita added a modern twist on the classic oval basin.
The small black and white bathroom turned out a great success with a newly sized window and black glass clad shower with Metro wall tiles. The checker board floor and open entrance make a fantastic statement.
In the guest cloakroom we added a marble basin with a custom-designed, tall double bevel mirror and new wall light.
